White, Dietz Sweep Track Athletes of The Week

DENTON, Texas - Mean Green track & field swept the Sun Belt Conference Track Athlete of the Week Awards on Wednesday, when the Sun Belt announced that Steven White and Sara Dietz both received the award.

The award marks the first of the year for White and the second straight week and fourth recognition of the year for Sara Dietz.

White broke the oldest school record in the books this weekend at the Texas Relays, when he crossed the finish line of the 400-hurdles in 50.53 seconds. That time was good enough for the junior to become the first Mean Green member to win a Texas Relays event since 1981.

He currently sits at No. 4 in the NCAA and first in the SBC, leading the hurdles by almost a second. He also still leads the 200-meter dash in the conference.

A week after she went and claimed the No. 1 spot in the 800 meter run in the SBC, Dietz did the same in the 1,500 meter run on Saturday at the Texas Relays. The senior, who swept the 800, mile and 3,000 indoors, finished in 4:30.48 seconds and leads the SBC by over two seconds in the 1,500 meters.

North Texas track & field will be back in action this weekend when it plays host for the North Texas Spring Classic.
