DENTON, Texas (3/25/08) Less than three days after posting his first collegiate first place finish, Jermaine Jamison has been named the Sun Belt Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Jamison began his collegiate outdoor career in grand fashion, as the freshman from Killeen, Texas, regionally qualified and placed first in the high jump at the Horned Frog Invitational. Jamison cleared a personal best height of 6-10.75 on his third and final attempt to take home the gold.
Jamison was one of two North Texas athletes to qualify for regionals this past weekend. North Texas triple jumper Brandi Stanfield posted a regional qualifying mark with a leap of 40-11.00, clearing the regional qualifying mark by a half-foot. Stanfield has now qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional in the triple jump all three years that she has been at North Texas
The North Texas track and field team will next head to the Abilene Christian Tri-Meet, Friday, March 28.
