North Texas Tennis Hosts Free Clinic




DENTON (11/29/06) The North Texas Tennis program is reaching out to the local community by holding a free tennis clinic this weekend at Waranch Tennis Pavilion located at the University of North Texas.

 

The clinic will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A mini adult clinic will be held from 11:15 to 11:45 and starting at noon, juniors under tha age of 18 will be able to begin signing in. The junior clinic will start at 12:15 and end at 12:45 p.m. From 12:30-1:30 all players are welcome to hit with the North Texas tennis team and brush up on form and technique.

 

North Texas head tennis coach Sujay Lama and assistant coach Jeff Maren will be overseeing the clinic while the North Texas tennis players will participate in instructing all individuals who come out to play.

 

Lama was a top-50 junior player worldwide and was a Collegiate All-American. He was the head coach at the University of Illinois for eight years and has been a part of two national championship winning teams at the University of Florida as an assistant coach. Maren was a High School All-American and a nationally ranked collegiate player. In 2005 he was voted Tennis Professional of the Year by the USTA of Southern Kentucky and has over twenty years of coaching experience.

 

“The tennis program would really like to give back to the community and form a bond with area tennis players and fans,” said Maren.
