North Texas Tennis Goes 15-5 On Day One Of NTC

DENTON, Texas (11/6/09) - Mean Green Tennis wrapped up day one of the North Texas Classic Friday evening at the Waranch Tennis Complex with its best day of the fall.

The  15-5 record on the day included only two losses among the new doubles teams and saw huge wins from Paula Dinuta and Narine Kazarova in singles.

"I felt really good out there today," said Dinuta. "My game both on the court was there and it was nice to go through my singles matches with as much power as I did."

Dinuta lost only six games in singles on her way to victories over Northwestern State's Kathrin Lange(6-2, 6-4) and Andrea Nedorostova (6-0, 6-0) respectively.

Kazarova, who also finished the day 2-0 in singles, had to endure long first sets in both of her matches, before turning it on and overcoming her opponents of Bianca Schulz (7-5, 6-0) and Martina Rubesova (7-6 (5), 6-0) from Northwestern State.

"The first sets in both matches were really competitive," said Kazarova. "I really just tried to play my game, and as the matches went on I just gained more and more confidence."

The Mean Green will continue the North Texas Classic tomorrow morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
