"I am extremely pleased with the way we competed this weekend considering the high caliber of competition," said head coach Sujay Lama. "Our doubles play has been impressive so far and we are improving rapidly in singles. One area we need to work on is learning to close out matches. In order to do that, we've got to take our physical conditioning to the next level. That's what we are going to focus on the next three weeks before regionals."

North Texas navigated its way through the weekend with a 17-16 overall record including a 6-3 record in doubles. Seven of the 13 singles losses were matches that went three sets, two of which saw a set point in the Mean Green's favor.

Junior transfer Nadia Lee continues to impress as she again won her singles match on Sunday, downing Malika Rose of Oklahoma State 6-3, 6-3.

Irina Paraschiv joined Lee with a singles victory when she took down Oklahoma's Mia Lancaster in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

The Sooner Fall Invitational featured 11 teams in the field, seven of which were ranked at the end of the season in 2009-10; No. 22 Arkansas, No. 29 SMU, No. 32 Tulsa, No. 34 DePaul, No. 42 Oklahoma, No 62 Oklahoma State and then of course, No. 66 North Texas.

The Mean Green will be back in action at the ITA Texas Regional Friday, October 15 from the campus of Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
