Tennis Heads North For Sooner Invitational




DENTON, Texas - After a strong start to the 2010 fall season, North Texas Tennis will head to Norman, Okla., for the Sooner Fall Invitational taking place Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26 at the Headington Family Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

The Mean Green took five of a possible six titles from its previous tournament, The Mean Green Invitational, and is looking to achieve similar results against tougher competition.

"Our goal is to build on the success from last week and continue to improve and break new barriers," head coach Sujay Lama said.  "This tournament is definitely a few notches up from last week; however, I do feel like we have prepared well to compete at a high level this weekend."

Eleven total school will be in action this weekend, seven of which were ranked at the end of the season in 2009-10; No. 22 Arkansas, No. 29 SMU, No. 32 Tulsa, No. 34 DePaul, No. 42 Oklahoma, No 62 Oklahoma State and then of course, No. 66 North Texas. Other schools in action will be Sun Belt Conference rival UALR, Texas Tech and Wichita State.

Seven members of the Mean Green will be in action this weekend in Norman.  Seniors Amy Joubert and Madura Ranganathan, juniors Irina Paraschiv, Paula Dinuta and Nadia Lee, as well as Sophomore Barbora Vykydalova and freshman Carolina Baraboza.
