DENTON (9/21/06) The North Texas tennis team kicks off the season at home with the Mean Green Fall Invitational this weekend at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
The tennis team’s upcoming season looks promising with a pair of new coaches and a new facility to boost the program. Head coach Sujay Lama is enthusiastic about this weekend’s tournament.
“We are really excited about hosting this tournament,” Lama said. “We have worked hard so far this off-season and we are very anxious to get out and compete against some quality opponents. This weekend will give us a chance to kick off the season and on a great note, and I really look forward to opening this great facility.”
Nine teams, including NT, are scheduled to attend the tournament. The Mean Green will be competing against SMU, Texas Tech, Sam Houston, Arkansas State, Texas Arlington, Tyler College, North Central Texas College, and nationally ranked, local powerhouse TCU.
The action begins at the Warranch Tennis Pavilion at 9 a.m. each morning.
