Mean Green Tennis Drops Quarterfinals Match At SBC Tournament

MOBILE, Ala. (4/22/06) - The North Texas women's tennis team (6-18) was unable to get past top-seed Florida International (18-5) in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Saturday, falling 4-0 to the 42nd ranked Golden Panthers.

The No. 9 seed, North Texas defeated No. 8 Middle Tennessee on Friday in the tournament’s opening round and was scheduled to play FIU later that day, but poor weather conditions delayed the match until Saturday.

Led by 105th ranked Paula Zabala, FIU was able to win the first three singles matches completed in straight sets.  The Golden Panthers also won the first two doubles matches finished to take the contest’s first point as well.
