Mean Green Land Two All-Conference Awards

DENTON, Texas - Freshman Kseniya Bardabush became the first North Texas freshman and second member of the Mean Green to be selected as a member of the All-Sun Belt Conference team in singles on Wednesday evening.

Joining Bardabush is the duo of senior Nadia Lee and junior Barbora Vykydalova, one of three doubles teams selected as All-Sun Belt Conference members.

"I am excited for these ladies and for our program," said head coach Sujay Lama. "For a freshmen to play at the level Kseniya has played this semester at the top spot, that is special. Bara and Nadia clicked the first day they played together and are definitely the best doubles team we have had in our time here. They are very deserving of this prestigious honor."

Bardabush assembled a 10-9 record in dual matches this season, including winning her first two matches of her career at the No. 1 singles slot. She defeated No. 114 Olivia Smith in straight sets in the Mean Green's first victory over No. 44 TCU in February.

The freshman registered a 5-1 record in Sun Belt play and was a major factor in North Texas recording its first-ever No. 1 overall seed in the Sun Belt.

Lee and Vykydalova are the first doubles team selected as All-Conference members for the Mean Green since 1997, when Melissa Spann and Dawna Denny took home All-Big West honors, and are the first pair to receive All-SBC honors. The pair hauled in a 7-2 record overall from the No. 1 slot, including a 3-1 mark in conference play.

North Texas, ranked No. 59 in the nation, will begin its quest for its second conference tennis title in the last three seasons on Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. when it takes on the winner of No. 8 seed Arkansas State vs. No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic.

All matches will take place at the Waranch Tennis Complex. Admission is free.
