Tulsa Tops Mean Green, 5-2




TULSA, Okla. (4/2/06) The North Texas women’s tennis team (4-13) suffered a 5-2 setback against Tulsa (10-10) on Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

 

The Mean Green’s Sara Giles and Lynley Wasson teamed up to win the first doubles match completed, but Tulsa swept the final two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.

 

Sammie Moreton and Sara Giles led the way for the Mean Green in singles action, winning the third and sixth flights, respectively.  Moreton defeated Tiffany Smith in a full three sets, while Giles swept Agostina Santoro.

 

Tulsa won the remaining four singles matches to pull out the win.

 

North Texas returns home for its next match, hosting Sun Belt Conference opponent Arkansas State on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Waranch Tennis Pavilion.
