Here are answers to frequently asked questions about applying for a position.

  • Where are job vacancies posted?

    • Click the green button above for the location where you wish to work to find job vacancies there.
    • Find positions that match your skills and experience.
    • Note that only online applications will be considered.
    • If you need internet access, find free or low-cost computers at each Campus HR location, any Texas Workforce Commission office, most public libraries, some community centers and at commercial locations. Free computer kiosks also are available in Business Support Services, 1112 Dallas Drive, Suite 4000, Denton.
    • The UNT Career Center provides services for students and alumni at UNT in Denton. 
    • Positions at UNT New College at Frisco are listed with UNT and the UNT Office of the Provost.
  • Do I have to complete an application for each position?

    No, you may create one online application and can apply it to multiple positions. You may edit your application as needed to show the experience most relevant to the position for which you are applying. You may not submit a résumé for consideration without completing the online application process. You may attach a résumé and other relevant documents during the online application process.

  • Do I have to complete all sections if I submit a resume?

    Yes. A resume may not be substituted for application fields. Complete all application fields. When you click Submit, you cannot make changes or additions. When you receive a confirmation number, your application has been sent to the hiring department and changes cannot be made.   • Can I save my application without finishing?

    Yes. Click on the Save and Stay on this Page button. This allows you to return to the application and see data through the last page that was saved, even if you have not completed all required fields. You have the option to save changes before leaving the page. The online session will time out after 60 minutes of inactivity. If your session times out, your information will be lost if you have not saved it.   • Can I use the Back button to get to a prior page?

    Do not use your browser's back, forward or refresh buttons to navigate. This may cause your application to time out or lose data. Please use only navigational buttons within the site.

  • What if I forget my username and password?

    Contact the Human Resources Support Center, 1-855-878-7650 or hrrecords@untsystem.edu, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • How do I submit veteran’s preference information?

    Complete the Veterans Self-Identification form and submit a copy of your service record (DD214) as an attachment to your application.

  • Can I use an alternate social security number?

    No. You must register for Social Security and use a legal number to apply. If you are hired, you must present an official Social Security card or a receipt for a Social Security number of the legal card. If you are hired, you cannot begin work without a legal social security number.

  • Can my college hours be substituted for experience and vice versa?

    Hiring departments sometimes will accept substitutions for experience and education. Every 30 hours of college can be substituted for one year of experience. Every year of experience can be substituted for one year of college. Please review the minimum qualifications for each position.

  • Do I have to provide an official transcript?

    If the position requires a college degree or if college education is a qualifying factor, an official transcript will be required upon employment.

  • How do I print my application?

    Before submitting your application, you will have the option to view it. When your application opens in a new browser window, use the tool bar at the top of your computer screen, click on File and then on Print, and follow the prompts.   • How long will my application remain active?

    Your application will be active for as long as you continue to apply for positions.

  • Will Human Resources refer my application to other managers?

    No. Applicants must review new postings and apply for each.

  • May I withdraw my application?

    Yes, but please note that when your application has been withdrawn, you will no longer be considered and you cannot apply for the same position. You may apply for other positions.

  • Will I be contacted by the hiring department?

    After you apply and receive a requisition number, your application will be submitted to the hiring department. The hiring department will review applications and Talent Acquisition will assist with arranging interviews.

  • How can I check the status of my application?

    After logging in to the job application site, click on Positions for Which I Have Applied in the left menu bar. You will see a notation that says:

    • In-Process - Position remains open and based on your skills/qualifications, you may or may not be contacted for an interview.
    • Position Filled - Another candidate has been hired.
