Relay Team Breaks School Record In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (12/15/07) With the bright lights of Sin City shining down on them the North Texas swimming and diving team broke the school record in the 200 meter freestyle relay in the opening day of the UNLV Invitational.

The team of Nicole Leslie, Elizabeth Weiss, Bonnie Garcia-Meitin, and Alicia Hale had a time of 1:36.55 to break the school record that was set earlier in the season. That time was the fifth best in the meet event that had over 40 relay teams.

Hale was not done though as she had a season-best time of 5:02.27 in the 500-yard freestyle. Senior Christina Hammervold also had a season-best time in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:11.16. Sophomore Emily Floyd recorded a season-best time of 5:05.10 in the preliminary of the 500-yard freestyle.

Day two of the UNLV Invitational continues tomorrow with two sessions.
