The North Texas swimming and diving team faced tough competition when it took on the Texas A&M Aggies Sat., October 30, in the UNT Student Recreation Center. The Aggies dominated throughout the meet, but provided the Mean Green with good competition to improve its times.

Sophomore Gwen Rourke swam a time of 1:08.07 in the 100 yard breaststroke placing her in the NT record books with the second fastest time in the school’s history. Kara Brock currently holds the school record with a time of 1:08.05.

Freshman newcomer Bonnie Garcia-Meitin took second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.70, while sophomore Jaime Hosner swam a time of 10:44.41 in the 1000 yard freestyle putting her in third place.

The Mean Green travels to Little Rock, Arkansas next weekend to compete against the University of Arkansas-LR, Henderson State, Louisiana-Monroe, the University of New Orleans and Tulane University.
