Mean Green defeats New Mexico St. in Fall Classic

The women's swimming & diving team finished in fourth place at its second and final day of competition in the Sun Belt Fall Classic this weekend. The Mean Green faced challenging opposition from the University of Nevada and the Air Force Academy, but dominated Sun Belt rival New Mexico State in both days of competition.

Senior All-Sun Belt swimmer, Bethany Pipes, placed second in the 200 freestyle after a head to head finish with Nevada's Sarahbeth Metzger. Sophomore Jaime Hosner finished third in the 1650 freestyle, while sophomore Devon Dlouhy placed third in the 100 butterfly. Freshman newcomer Bonnie Garicia-Meitin finished third in the 100 backstroke.

The 400 freestyle relay, composed of Garcia-Meitin, Dlouhy, Pipes and Emilia Tudose, took home third place in the event. It was the only Mean Green relay team to post a top-three finish this weekend.

The Mean Green will host its first meet of the season this Saturday, October 30 in the UNT Student Recreation Center where it will be competing against Texas A&M and Sun Belt rival UL-Monroe. The meet begins at noon.
