DENTON, Texas (10/18/11) - Fans watching the North Texas/Florida Atlantic football game on the Sun Belt Network may have caught a feature on student-athlete Delia Covo. The North Texas diver was featured in a segment that highlights a Sun Belt student-athlete.
Covo is an example of a student-athlete who is succeeding in and out of the classroom.
The senior was awarded the Sun Belt's Sporting Behavior Award last year, given to one male and female athlete throughout the conference based on outstanding leadership and achievement in the classroom, on the field of play and in the community.
In the pool, she qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet last year, one of three North Texas divers to qualify for the first time since 2003. She set the school record in the three-meter dive at the SCAC Western Shootout (280.15) and finished third in the three-meter at the conference meet.
Covo is a two-time member of the Sun Belt Commissioner's List and has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, the President's List and the Dean's List at North Texas.
