Qualification For Kimmy

ROCKWALL, Texas - The NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships released their official list of selected swimmers and divers that will compete in the national finals including North Texas' own sophomore Kimmy Phillips.

Phillips swam a 16:13.58 in the 1650 freestyle to qualify as the first North Texas swimmer or diver to ever be selected to the prestigious event.

"It was an awesome swim," head coach Joe Dykstra said. "What an honor it is for her to be the first NCAA competitor to come from North Texas swimming and diving."

Her time at the Rockwall Aquatic Center during the Sun Belt Conference Championships broke the conference record previously held by current Mean Green assistant coach Michele Lowry from her time at Denver.

The championships will be hosted by IUPUI and the Indiana Sports Corporation at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, March 21-23.
