DENTON, Tex. (1/22/04) North Texas junior Bethany Pipes has been named the Sun Belt Conference Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season after recording four first-place and one second-place finish in two meets against New Mexico State and Houston last week.
Pipes has now been named the league’s swimmer of the week twice this season and an impressive four times in her three-year career at North Texas.
Pipes helped lead North Texas to a dual-meet victory over New Mexico State by winning the 200 Freestyle and 200 Backstroke. The junior standout also took second place in the 500 Freestyle and was a member of the 400 Freestyle Relay team that took gold against the Aggies.
Pipes came back to post two more event championships against Houston with first-place times in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Backstroke. She also swam on the 200 Freestyle Relay team that took gold against the Cougars.
