Swimming And Diving Prepares For New Mexico State

DENTON, Texas (1/8/08) The University of North Texas swimming and diving team will see their first action in 2008 with a dual-meet against New Mexico State University, this afternoon in Las Cruces, NM. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

The Mean Green will head to New Mexico State seeking revenge from a one-point dual-meet loss to New Mexico State last season. The Aggies defeated North Texas 170-169 last year in Houston. The Mean Green finished one spot and 125 points ahead of NMSU less than a month ago at the UNLV Invite.

The two schools have had one opponent in common this season. Both North Texas and New Mexico State dropped close decisions to Northern Arizona earlier in the year. North Texas is 2-10 all-time against NMSU.

It had been nearly a month since the Mean Green had swam when they competed at the UNLV Winter Invite, but you could have never of guessed. North Texas set 91 season bests at the three-day invitational, including seven school records. All 13 athletes who competed in the 100 free set season best times. North Texas also accomplished that same feat in the 200-yard backstroke.

After New Mexico State, North Texas will return to Denton to host the University of Houston on Friday, Jan. 18, followed by Rice on Saturday.
