North Texas Hosts No. 8-ranked Aggies
The Mean Green return to the pool to take on perennial powerhouse Texas A&M, who finished 6th in the NCAA Championships in 2010. North Texas is coming off of a successful December, where they jumped into the Mid-Major Top 25 with a ranking of 12th. Three school records fell at the Texas Relays in December, and Rosa Gentile earned an NCAA ‘B' standard time.
Mid-Major Rank
North Texas into the latest CollegeSwimming.com / CSCAA Mid-Major Poll, ranking 12th nationally among mid-major programs. This is North Texas' first apperance in the rankings this season. North Texas' conference rivals Denver and Western Kentucky rank 4th and 7th respectively.
The Mid-Major rankings use an objective point system to compare teams' relative strength in a traditional dual meet lineup as submitted by participating teams. The ranking is available to those institutions that a) are not members of a BCS conference or Mountain West Conference, or b) provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules. Teams must have submitted entries within the first two polling periods to be eligible for the final ranking.
Time Change
The start time for this meet against Texas A&M was moved to 2 p.m., up two hours from the orginial start time of 4 p.m. Texas A&M's football team plays LSU at 7 p.m. in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, held in Arlington, Texas.

North Texas is 0-10 all-time against the Aggies, in a series that dates back to 1998-99, North Texas' first year as a program.
This Is Our Olympics
North Texas' meet against Florida Gulf Coast took place in a 50-meter Olympic pool instead of the NCAA standard 25-yard pool, therefore times need to be converted to compare to previous times and to qualifiy for NCAA consideration.
To convert the times, the raw time is converted to total seconds, then multiplied by the appropriate factor. The resulting time is truncated (no rounding) after hundredths of a second (two decimal places) and then expressed again in minutes and seconds.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
Mary Beth Geeze and Delia Covo became the first North Texas divers since Melissa Whitaker in 2003 to qualify for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet. Covo and Geeze become the 3rd and 4th divers to reach the NCAA meet, and become the first pair to qualify in the same year. This season, Delia Covo has posted three of the five best three-meter diving scores in school history, and has twice set the school record this season, first against SMU, and then again at the SCAC Western Shootout. Mary Beth Geeze would have broke the school record at the Western Shootout on the 3-meter board, if not for Covo's performance that day.
Two Divers Qualify for NCAA
SOUTHLAKE, Texas- Mary Beth Geeze and Delia Covo qualified for the 2011 NCAA Zone ‘D' Diving Meet in Austin, Texas at the SCAC Western Shootout. North Texas qualified multiple divers to the NCAA Zone Meet for the first time in school history and will participate in the event for the first time since Melissa Whitaker qualified in 2003. Both Geeze and Covo set school records on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards respectively.
Deep In The Heart Of Texas
All of North Texas' remaining meets this season are inside the state of Texas. The Mean Green stay in-state to compete in dual meets against Houston and Rice (Houston), the Sun Belt Championships (Rockwall) and the NCAA Championships (Austin).
Rarefied Air
The meet on October 23 in Las Cruces, N.M., took place at 3896 feet above sea level. Due to the altitude, all races of 200 yards or more had a time adjustment. For races of 200 yards, 0.5 seconds are subtracted, 2.5 seconds for 400 or 500 yard races, and 6.3 seconds from the 1000.
FGCU Recap
FT. MEYERS, Fla.- North Texas divers posted multiple season highs in both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions, but fell to Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Meyers. The meet was contested in a long course pool, as the teams used the longer distances to better prepare for the coming conference season.
Delia Covo and Rebecca Taylor both posted their best scores of the season in the one-meter diving competition. Covo won the event with a score of 256.20, besting her previous high of 248.03, set against SMU on November 5, and Rebecca Taylor posted a 246.85, finishing second and besting her previous career-best of 236.70, also set against SMU.
Taylor finished second in the three-meter diving, and posted a 257.62, besting her previous mark of 254.00, set against Arkansas and Tulane on October 8. Kendall Schmid registered a 224.40, edging her previous best on the three-meter board of 223.72.
North Texas had success in the pool with some of the short-distance sprints, as Rosa Gentile won the 50-meter backstroke by .04 seconds with a time of 31.90 seconds. North Texas swimmers finished second through fifth in the 50-meter freestyle, led by Seabre Pope's 28.72. Rosa Gentile won the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 29.57.
