Swimming Defeats Tulane, Falls To Arkansas

DENTON, Texas- North Texas beat Tulane 140-102 and lost to perennial power Arkansas 163-75 in a double dual meet completed Saturday at the Pohl Recreation Center. North Texas is now 1-1 to start 2010-11.

"We're very happy to get our first win of the season," said North Texas Head Coach Joe Dykstra. "We learned a lot this weekend and are looking forward to our next meets."

Leanne Hill posted a 2:10.94 in the 200-yard backstroke, a team-high for the 2010-11 season. Hill finished 4th against Arkansas and 2nd against Tulane. North Texas' 'A' 200-yard free relay team posted a season-high 1:39.35, finishing second against Tulane.

North Texas returns to the pool on Friday, October 22, when they take on Boise State and New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. The Mean Green return to the Pohl Recreation Center on Friday, November 5th as it hosts the SMU Mustangs at 6 p.m.
