Abercrombie Named Conference USA Diver Of The Week

Oct. 13, 2015

DENTON — For the second time in her career, senior Jasmine Abercrombie earned Conference USA Diver of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday. The Houston, Texas, native won the award for her overall performance in last week’s double-dual meet against Incarnate Word and Liberty.

She picked up right where she left off last season, winning the last week's (Feb. 10, 2015) diver award and first week's (Oct. 13, 2015) diver award in consecutive seasons. She is also the first diver to earn the award under first-year diving coach Mark Murdock.

The team’s top performer on the three-meter and platform boards and the second-best performer on the one-meter board in 2014-15, Abercrombie picked up a win over Liberty in the one-meter competition with a score of 230.25, placing second overall among divers from all three teams.

Abercrombie also finished second-place overall to teammate Samantha Scheck in the three-meter competition with a score of 244.13. Abercrombie was the only diver to finish in the top three of both diving competitions. She was also part of a first, second and third-place finish for the Mean Green in the three-meter diving competition.

The North Texas swimming and diving team will return to the pool on Friday, Oct. 23, for a dual meet at Texas A&M.
