DENTON, Texas -

North Texas Swimming & Diving 2013-14 Schedule

Following an outstanding year that saw the Mean Green swimming & diving team come within one race of the SBC championship, North Texas will look to build upon its success during the upcoming 2013-14 campaign and its first year in Conference USA.

With a schedule highlighted by a trip to College Station to take on the Aggies, the Mean Green will face programs from the Big 12, SEC, Pac-12, Mountain West, newly-formed American Athletic Conference and, of course, C-USA.

First-year coach Brendon Bray will also be taking his team to San Diego, Calif., for a meet that includes Colorado State, Tulane and Bray's previous unit, the San Diego State Aztecs.

"We have purposely scheduled tough dual meet competitions and decided to compete in high-level invitationals to best prepare us for the Conference USA Championships," Bray said. "Each meet along the way should act as a building block that was designed to give us high-level performance at the end of the season."

The schedule contains several rematches from the 2012-13 slate, including a head-to-head against now-conference opponent Rice after falling to the Owls by a mere six points in their last meeting.

The Mean Green will also face regional opponents SMU and TCU after close calls with each of them last season.

"We think we have some incredible opportunities this season to test ourselves, and I can't wait to get the season started," Bray said. "I expect big things from the Mean Green swimmers and divers, both at the conference level and national level in 2013-14."

The Bray era kicks off with the annual Green & White Meet on Sept. 27 in Denton, Texas, followed by the season-opening North Texas Relays in Southlake, Texas, on Oct. 4.

Its first official home meet of the season will be against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Oct. 5.
