DENTON - North Texas received the Spring Scholar All-America Team Award for having one of the top GPA’s in the nation in 2014 Division I women’s swimming and diving, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced this week.

“I am very proud of our team's academic success this year,” said head coach Brendon Bray. “Being acknowledged second in the nation this fall and now 12th this spring is a wonderful honor for our team, and totally is a result of their hard work and dedication to their studies outside of the pool."

To qualify for the CSCAA Team Scholar All-America award a program must achieve a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The University of Minnesota had the highest GPA in the spring of 2014 with a 3.86, and North Texas ranked 12th with a 3.55.

This is the second time the Mean Green has received the honor in the 2013-14 season. In the fall of 2013, the Mean Green held the second-highest GPA in the nation with a 3.55 along with Grand Canyon University and Southern Illinois, behind the University of Alabama’s 3.60.
