DENTON - The North Texas swimming and diving team picked up seven wins against TCU on Friday, but a lack of depth took its toll as the Mean Green fell to the Horned Frogs, 168-130.

"In terms of winning events I don't think we could've been much better," head coach Brendon Bray said. "But we weren't able to come away with second- or third-place finishes to follow up those wins and that means a lot in dual meets."

North Texas started the day off with second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay and 1000 freestyle before freshman Isabelle Morris took the team's first win of the meet. Morris clocked a time of 1:52.71 to win the 200 freestyle, and she would go on to claim the top spot in the 100 freestyle (52.31).

Seniors Krista Rossum and Mona Groteguth contributed with their usual impressive performances. Rossum followed up a three-win performance last week with three more wins on Friday as she took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.70), 200 breaststroke (2:18.82) and 400 IM (4:27.55). Groteguth added to her list of top times by winning the 200 backstroke event with a 2:02.57 time. Groteguth also notched a second-place finish in the 100 back (57.80).

Sophomore Samantha Scheck was the highlight of a diving team that had solid scores. Scheck earned a career-best 294.74 en route to a first-place finish in the one-meter dive, and her score was good for the third-best performance in program history. In the three-meter, junior Jasmine Abercrombie took second while Scheck came away with third.

North Texas now prepares to host SMU for senior night. The meet will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, from the Pohl Recreation Center Natatorium.
