No. 22 Oklahoma Defeats Mean Green




Norman, Okla. (5/3/06) The Mean Green left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning as the No. 22 Oklahoma softball team held onto a 4-0 victory against North Texas on Wednesday night at the OU Softball Complex.

 

The Mean Green (20-33) is now 0-4 in the series this season against the Sooners. Oklahoma finished its regular season with a 35-18-1 overall record.

 

Nicole Denes allowed only four Mean Green hits in seven innings of work in the circle. She gave up a hit to Katya Muller to start off the game and then held North Texas hitless until the seventh inning.

 

Sophomore Kristina Fowler broke up the one-hitter in the seventh with a single. Monica Garcia and Sarah Jones both posted base hits to load the bases for Jonna Williams who flied out to end the game.

 

The Sooners used 12 hits to score four runs, including two home runs.

 

Junior Anne Morton recorded her second start of her career and pitched six innings for the Mean Green.

 

North Texas finishes its regular season with a three-game series against Western Kentucky this weekend in Bowling Green.
