North Texas Softball Heads To Troy For Key Conference Series




Troy, Alabama (4/16/10) - The North Texas softball team is headed to Troy, Alabama this weekend to face the Trojans in a key three-game series. The Mean Green will play Troy in a single game on Friday, April 16 at 6 p.m. and then finish the series with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Mean Green has won eight of its last 10 games, including four straight doubleheaders. North Texas is currently third in the Sun  Belt standings with a 7-5 mark. Troy is fifth with an 8-7 record. The Trojans lead the series between the two teams, 9-7, but North Texas has won the last four games. The Mean Green swept Troy at home last year, but the Trojans took all three games in Alabama in 2008.

The Mean Green offense is hitting at a .293 clip, which ranks second in the conference. Lisa Johnson leads the way with a .369 average and nine home runs. Ashley Lail leads the pitching corp with 10 wins and a 2.05 ERA. Kayla Lawson has seen the most action lately, going 3-1 in the last seven games.
