Stephen F. Austin Game Notes
DENTON -- The North Texas softball team returns to the road for five straight road games, starting with a midweek matchup at Stephen F. Austin at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The road swing also includes a three-game Conference USA series at Western Kentucky and another midweek matchup at No. 20 Baylor.
The Mean Green (15-11, 1-5 C-USA) are coming off a home series loss to Marshall, splitting the doubleheader Saturday and dropping the rubber match Sunday. They are 3-4 on the road this season, including a pair of wins over No. 20 Baylor at the Getterman Classic.
"We challenged the team to not give up on the season," head coach Tracey Kee said. "We still have a lot of conference play left. We have run across some good teams, against UTSA last weekend and Marshall this past weekend. It's learning process, and I think this group is figuring it out, and I feel very comfortable moving forward with them."
The Ladyjacks (12-15, 2-3 Southland) are the sixth different Southland Conference school that North Texas has faced this season. The Mean Green have posted a 6-1 record against those schools, having defeated Northwestern State, Nicholls State twice, Houston Baptist and Incarnate Word and split a pair of games with Sam Houston State.
North Texas has won five straight and holds a 12-5 advantage in the all-time series over Stephen F. Austin, most recently taking two games from the Ladyjacks during the 2014 season.
