Mean Green Finish In Fourth At Texas A&M




COLLEGE STATION, Texas - It was three rounds of going toe-to-toe with some of the nation's best teams for the North Texas women's golf team and they finished near the top with a fourth place at the Texas A&M "Mo"morial Invitational to start the season.

The tournament featured eight teams ranked in the top 40 or higher in the final rankings last year and North Texas beat six of those teams.

The Mean Green's score of 917 beat Texas A&M, Florida State, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Tulane, and Coastal Carolina. The Aggies, Tulane, and Michigan State were all ranked in the top-20 of the final rankings last season. In all North Texas beat six teams ranked 32nd or higher.

Senior Jacey Chun led the way for North Texas with a fifth place finish. Chun shot a final round of 76, but had an eagle on the final hole as she finished at 3-over par 219. It is Chun's second-highest finish of her career and the fifth top-10 of her career.

Addison Long had a top-20 finish with a three-round score of 229 to finish in a tie for 18th place. Long had four birdies in her final round.

Taylor Kilponen shot an third round of 80 to finish in 34th place while Kelsey Kipp had a final round of 76 to finish in 37th place. Chaslyn Chrismer posted a 78 in the final round while Katie Paxton, playing as an individual for North Texas, had her best score of the tournament with a 79.

Texas won the overall tournament with Auburn finishing in second and Kentucky in third. North Texas returns to action in two weeks at the Dick McGuire Invitational.
