Mean Green Finish In Sixth, Tanner Hits Hole-In-One




NORMAN, Okla. (4/10/06) Facing its best field of the season, the North Texas women’s golf team finished tied for sixth place at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic from the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.

 

The Mean Green tied the host of the tournament, Oklahoma, with a three-round score of 913 in a field of 17 teams that featured eight schools from the Big 12 Conference.

 

“This was a great tournament for us to get ready for the conference championship,” said North Texas head coach Amber Chevrie. “The competition here was pretty tough but I’m very proud of the way that our girls played”.

 

In the final tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship, North Texas was paced by senior Andra Lancaster who fired a final round of 76. Lancaster shot a three-round score of 227 that included a 2-under par 70 in the second round. She finished the tournament tied for 19th place.

 

The shot of the day came from senior Brooke Tanner who aced the par-3 11th hole. Tanner’s hole-in-one came at the 113-yard par-3 and propelled her to a final round of 76.

 

Junior Tara Lambright posted the day’s best round for North Texas with a 74 and was tied for 26th place. Senior Jaclyn Golden shot a final round of 82 and Halli Richards posted an 81.

 

North Texas will now gear up for the Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 17-19 from the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
