North Texas in 6th Place at BYU




ST. GEORGE, Utah- The North Texas women's golf team finished off the two opening rounds of the BYU at Entrada Classic in sixth place at 52 over-par and in front of tournament host BYU.

Senior Jacey Chun once again leads her team tied for 16th place at 11 over-par. In round one Chun had a rough start on her fifth hole shooting a triple bogey, but was then able to calm down and finish at five over with two birdies. Her second round was almost a mirror of the first shooting six over-par with another two birdies. She is only nine strokes off the leader.

Freshman McKenzie Ralston sits right behind her teammate Chun tied for 22nd place at 12 over-par. Ralston continues to impress early on in her career and today was another solid outing. Round one she shot a seven over-par 79 that had one lone four over on hole seven, but was able to rebound in round two shooting a five over and sinking four birdies. 

Two shots behind Ralston is Kelsey Kipp tied for 25. Kipp is only 14 over for the tourney and tied with the 71st ranked player in the country. Another teammate close to the rest is Addison Long tied for 31st. Long struggled in round one making two double bogeys and one triple, but did much better her second go around shooting five over.

Rounding out the rest of the Mean Green is Chaslyn Chrismer tied 46 at 19 over-par.

No. 47 Texas State leads the tournament at 24 over-par and 12 strokes in front of second place No. 9 Oklahoma State.

The girls tee off round three Tuesday March 20.
