DENTON (2/1/06) - The Golf Channel visited the University of North Texas and Mean Green athletics today, filming a feature on colleges across the country. The segment will air this spring on a date to be announced.
With North Texas senior golfers Jason Lindgren and Jaclyn Golden as guides, the Golf Channel taped shots of the new athletic center, the new indoor and outdoor golf facilities, Fouts Field, the Student Recreation Center and other parts of campus. The crew was going to finish its piece at the Lantana Golf Course, where the men's and women's golf teams practice.
The Mean Green golf teams have new indoor and outdoor practice facilities for the 2006 season. Located on Bonnie Brae Avenue across from the new athletic center, the Mean Green Softball and Golf Facility houses indoor putting and driving areas. Next door is the Mean Green Office Complex and Gymnasium, where the golf coaches have their offices, team meeting rooms and a display case for their trophies.
The golf team can also go its outdoor practice facility in front of the new athletic center. The facility includes a putting green, driving range, short-game practice area and four holes.
