Low Scores Rule The Day At The Border Olympics




LAREDO, Tex. (3/16/07) Great conditions for scoring prevailed at the opening day of the Border Olympics as four North Texas golfers shot rounds under par during the first two rounds from the Laredo Country Club.

 

Harris Graham fired a career-low round of 3-under par 69 in the first round. Cole Howard had a 2-under par second round while Anthony Broussard and Raul Lemus had 1-under par round first and second rounds.

 

North Texas as a team shot a 290 in the opening round and a 293 in the second round. The Mean Green is 7-over par and in 10th place in a deep field of 15 teams.

 

Howard and Lemus are tied for 13th place after the first day with a two-round score of 1-under par 143. Graham fell back in the second round with a 75 but is at even-par for the tournament with a score of 144.

 

Broussard fired a 147 and is tied for 39th.  Junior Austin Welch had back-to-back rounds of 75 while freshman Dustin Thompson had a 78 in the first round and a second round of 74.

 

The final round of the Border Olympics starts tomorrow morning with a shotgun start.
