Gibson and Lindgren Pace North Texas In Opening Rounds

SPRINGFIELD, La. (3/15/04) Senior Brad Gibson and junior Jason Lindgren led the way for the North Texas men's golf team in the first two rounds of the Carter Plantation Classic. Both players shot four-over par in the first two rounds and with score of 73 in the opening round and 75 in the second round. They sit at 148 for the tournament.

"I thought that we came out and competed pretty well today," said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. "This is a pretty tough course and I thought that we came back in the second round and were able to make some shots that put us in a little bit better position heading into tomorrow".

As a team the Mean Green shot 305 and 300 and sit in seventh place after the first day of play. Senior Zach Atkinson shot a two-day score of 153 with an opening round 77 and second round 76. Reid McPherson and Weston Bingham both rebounded from a sluggish start in the first round to post identical scores of 75 second round.

The final round starts at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start from the Carter Plantation Golf Course.
