Mean Green Hold Steady In Round Two




DADE CITY, Fla. - It was a struggle in the second round for the No. 25 North Texas men's golf team but they remain in second place after 36 holes of the USF Invitational. The Mean Green shot a second round of 3-over par 291 and still in second place, but fell 20 shots behind clubhouse leader Middle Tennessee who shot a 277.

North Texas still has three players in the top-20 led by Ty Spinella who sits in eighth place after two rounds. Spinella shot an even-par round of 72 and sits in eighth place. Spinella had five birdies and five bogeys on the day. Spinella is 4-under par for the tournament.

Carlos Ortiz fell back after a second round 75 but is still 3-under par at 142. He is tied for 12th place. Rodolfo Cazaubon is 1-under par after his round of 71 on the day. Cazaubon had four birdies and one eagle in his round.

Josh Jones fired his second straight 73 on the day and is at 146 for the tournament while Marco Scarola had his second 76 of the tournament.

The Mean Green is in front of No. 30 ranked UCF by eight strokes. North Texas is ahead of Villanova by two strokes and Florida State by three strokes heading into the final round.
