North Texas (4-4, 4-0) will try to extend its 22-game Sun Belt Conference winning streak against Louisiana-Lafayette (4-4, 2-2) in Lafayette Friday with kickoff scheduled for 9 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN2 with Dr. Jerry Punch, Jim Donnan and Stacey Dales-Schuman providing the call. It can also be heard live on KWRD (100.7 FM) and KNTU (88.1 FM) in Dallas/Fort Worth.
North Texas tied an NCAA record by forcing three safeties and posted 451 yards of total offense in a 44-23 win last year against Louisiana-Lafayette in Denton. The game was highlighted by emergence of freshman wide receiver Johnny Quinn who was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week after having a career-best 176 yards receiving and two touchdown catches. Running back Patrick Cobbs and quarterback Scott Hall also set career-highs in the game with Cobbs rushing for 151 yards and Hall throwing for 222 (both of which have since been broken).
