Mean Green fans, I am proud to say that the countdown is finally over! The day has come where the University of North Texas has the keys to a brand new football stadium. Monday afternoon as I was sitting in my I office, I could see the team out on the field for the first time and I cannot put into words how thrilling it was to see them out there and how excited I am for September 10.

The Mean Green ticket office has officially moved into Mean Green Stadium and is open for business. The ticket office is one of the first fully-operational departments to move into the new stadium. The new ticket office is located on the west side of the new stadium, near the north 30-yard line. The ticket office can still be reached at 1- 800-UNT-2366, and still operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The first game at Mean Green Stadium is September 10, as North Texas hosts Houston, with season tickets starting at just $100 for all six home games.

The stadium isn't the only excitement that took place around here this summer. Our athletes are continuing to work hard and out shine themselves yet again.

North Texas running back Lance Dunbar was named the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year and offensive lineman Matt Tomlinson was picked as an all-conference pick as announced by the Sun Belt Conference. The Mean Green was picked to finish in sixth place in the preseason coach's poll while FIU was tabbed as the preseason favorite. Troy was picked to finish second, ULM and Middle Tennessee in a tie for third, followed by Arkansas State at fifth and then North Texas.

Mean Green Tracks, Freshman Terrance Williams took 2nd place in long jump at Pan America Jr. Athletic Championships for Team USA. Williams was awarded the silver medal after clearing 7.54 meters, just .04 meters short of fellow Team USA competitor Devin Fields (7.58 m).

For the fourth time in head coach Sujay Lama's five years at North Texas, Mean Green tennis was named an ITA All-Academic Team for the 2010-11 academic year.

North Texas volleyball was named one of 91 Division I teams to receive the AVCA Team Academic Award for its efforts during the 2010-11 school year. This is the first time Mean Green volleyball has received the award in school history.

After following USA Hoops and North Texas Freshman, Tony Mitchell the team finished off the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship with a nail-biting 78-77 victory over Australia (5-3) in the game to decide fifth place.  The American team finished the championship with a 7-2 overall record.

The fall is just around the corner! Mean Green Soccer kicks off their season with a home opener on Friday, August 19th vs. Monterrey (Mexico) at 7pm. Soon following, is Volleyball's first home game on Tuesday, August 30th vs. University of Texas at Arlington at 7pm.
