DENTON, Texas - The Mean Green Insider, the 30 minute television show dedicated to North Texas Athletics, has been picked up by TXA 21 and will air on Saturday mornings at 6 a.m. starting this week. In addition to airing on TXA 21, the MGI currently airs on Fox College Sports on Thursday nights at 5:30 p.m. and re-airs on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and again at midnight.
"Our relationship with TXA21 has provided a real boost for both our sponsors and our fans," said Deputy Athletic Director Hank Dickenson, who coordinates the show along with Jordan Foreman, New Media Manager. "This is the second year that we have packaged and produced a pair of in-house telecasts in conjunction with TXA21 and Jeff Watts Productions and we can certainly see building more inventory in the future. We really appreciate the fact that Gary Schneider, Senior V.P./Station Manager at KTVT/KTXA, is allowing us to air the "Mean Green Insider" as well. We view this as a very positive way to reach alums and to educate North Texas fans about our teams and the new stadium initiative."
The show features an in depth interview with North Texas football coach Todd Dodge as well as highlights and features from others sports in season. During basketball season the show will have interviews with Johnny Jones and Shanice Stephens along with features for each sport.
The first of two game telecasts on TXA21 is this weekend when North Texas plays host to Ohio University. Mean Green alums Doug Anderson and LaDarrin McLane will have the call beginning at 6pm on channel 21. Later in the season, Brad Sham and Sean Salisbury will team up to bring North Texas vs. Army to the D/FW Metroplex on November 21st on TXA21.
Sponsors include Access 1st Capital Bank, Budweiser, Dallas/Ft. Worth Marriott, Denton Movie Tavern, James Wood Auto Park and Valero Gasoline.
