The Mean Green football squad will begin its 53rd season at Fouts Field when it hosts Florida Atlantic Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm and the game can be heard live on KWRD (100.7 FM) and KNTU (88.1 FM) in Dallas/Fort Worth.
North Texas (0-1) and Florida Atlantic (1-0) have never met and only shared one common opponent last season. The Owls defeated Middle Tennessee 20-19 in the 2003 season opener at Murfreesboro and the Mean Green won 33-28 over the Blue Raiders seven games later at the same location.
North Texas is 54-17-2 all-time in home-opening games, including a 40-10-2 record at Fouts Field. The Mean Green has won two straight home openers at Fouts.
