Listen To The North Texas/Kansas State Game Tonight!

DENTON, Texas (8/30/08) - The wait is over and the 2008 football season has finally arrived for North Texas. The Mean Green kicks off the 2008 season in Manhattan, Kan., against the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday. The game is not televised but can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.

North Texas is entering the second year of the Todd Dodge era. The Mean Green had a down year in 2007 with a 2-10 record but returns eights starters on one of the most potent offenses in the country. North Texas had the best offensive improvement in the nation last season and the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Giovanni Vizza returns as the quarterback. Kansas State was 5-7 last season but dropped its last four games of the year. The Wildcats return seven starters on offense and five on defense.

Kansas State has won the last three meetings against North Texas and holds a 3-1 edge in the series. The two teams have played all four games in Manhattan. The two teams first met in 1985, a 22-10 Mean Green win over the Wildcats. Kansas State ended its 30-game winless streak against North Texas in 1989 with a 20-17 win.

The Wildcats won in 2000 55-10 and again in 2005 54-7 over the Mean Green. Future schedules have Kansas State making its first trip to Denton, Tex. to face North Texas in 2010.
