2010 Player Preview: Tyler Stradford

Tyler Stradford

Height: 6-2

Class: Junior

Signed: In 2009 from the University of Oklahoma

2009 Key Stat: 0. That's the number of snaps Stradford played while sitting out the season in accordance to the NCAA's transfer rules.

Why He Will Start: Stradford has the measurables to start for just about anyone in the country. An Oklahoma signee out of high school, he possesses the size and speed that NFL teams covet.

Why He Won't: Consistency. Stradford's ability, or inability, to consistently hold on to the football will tell the tale of his role for the 2010 North Texas Mean Green. With a deep wide receiver corps around him, Stradford can't afford too drops early in the season.

Don't Forget: Stradford was a two-way All-West Bank performer in high school coming out of New Orleans. He caught six touchdowns as a receiver and claimed five interceptions splitting time as a cornerback and safety in his senior season at O. Perry Walker High School. Stradford was ranked as the 23rd best player in the talent-rich state of Louisiana as a senior.

Overall: The key to Stradford's season is in his hands - literally. He has as much natural talent as anyone in the conference, but in an urgent season, he needs a fast start to avoid being passed over by a deep bunch of wideouts. The junior is the most focused he's been as a collegian heading into this season, and has the chance to really help this team as an X-factor.
