DENTON (2/4/04) - North Texas head coach Darrell Dickey has announced that 18 players have signed National Letters of Intent to play football for the Mean Green in 2004. Among the class are 16 high school seniors and two junior college transfers. All 16 of high school seniors are from Texas. North Texas returns 14 starters from a team that finished 9-4 and won its third straight Sun Belt Conference title.
"We are excited about the group of young men that have signed to play football at North Texas," head football coach Darrell Dickey said. "As always, it could be a few years before we realize exactly how strong this class is, but from a talent stand point, every player we have signed has a chance to make a major contribution at some point during their career at North Texas. All but two of the signees have already qualified academically and those two are very close. We have continued to concentrate our recruiting efforts in the state of Texas, which has been very productive for us. We addressed area's of need at nearly every position and we feel good about these guys being able to help replace some of the players we lost to graduation. We expect this class to come in and help us in working to continue being a premiere team in the Sun Belt Conference."
