May 12, 2014

DENTON, Texas – Former Mean Green football players Brelan Chancellor and Zach Orr have signed NFL free agent contracts with San Diego and Baltimore, respectively, while three other players have received invitations to NFL mini-camps this weekend.

Quarterback Derek Thompson has been invited to participate in a rookie mini-camp with the Denver Broncos, safety Marcus Trice is going to the Chicago Bears mini-camp and tight end Drew Miller will be in New Orleans to take part in the Saints rookie mini-camp.

Chancellor and Orr were both three-time all-conference players for North Texas while Trice was first-team All-C-USA this season. Thompson was the Heart of Dallas Bowl MVP, guiding NT to a 36-14 thumping of UNLV, and one of his favorite targets was Miller.

All five players are looking to join former Mean Green players and current NFL stars Lance Dunbar and Brian Waters of the Cowboys and Craig Robertson of the Cleveland Browns.
