Dave Barnett Taking Over As Voice Of Mean Green Radio Network

April 18, 2015

DENTON -- Two-time Emmy Award winner and North Texas alumnus Dave Barnett will be the new voice of the Mean Green Radio Network starting this fall.

Barnett, who is both a native of Denton and a graduate of Denton High School, takes over for George Dunham, who spent 25 years in the booth for the MGRN.

Barnett joins Brent Musburger as the only two broadcasters alive to have called a World Series, all four BCS Bowl games and an NBA All-Star game.

"I am excited and honored to replace the great George Dunham as the voice of the Mean Green," Barnet said. "As someone who was born in Denton and went to school at North Texas this will be a labor of love. Every good thing that has ever happened to me in my career is a direct result of having gone to school at North Texas."

A 1979 graduate of North Texas, Barnett will call his first game for the Mean Green on Sept. 12 at SMU.
