Game Notes

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - North Texas takes on the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday night in a pivotal match that has the Mean Green searching for its first W of the season. North Texas is looking to bounce back after dropping a heartbreaker in Dallas last Wednesday night to SMU.

North Texas and Alabama will meet for only the second time in series history. The Mean Green knocked off the Crimson Tide last season at the Super Pit in the only matchup, 69-63. It was the first ever win over an SEC opponent for North Texas, as they were 0-11 against the league before the win last season.

North Texas is looking to avoid an 0-3 start to the year against Alabama, which would be the first 0-3 start to the year since the 2006-07 season. The 0-2 start could easily have been 1-1 or 2-0, with the two losses to Texas State and SMU coming by a combined nine points.  It is the closest margin of defeat, nine points, by a North Texas team that has dropped the first two games of the year in school history.

True freshman Alexis Hyder continues to break new ground just two games into her collegiate career. After becoming the first player in 25 years to notch a double-double in her first game, she scored 13 points against SMU and is the first true freshman to score in double figures in their first two games since all-time leading scorer Jalie Mitchell did it to start her career in the 1998-99 season.
