NT Basketball Lands Another, Calvin Signs With Mean Green

DENTON, Texas (5/19/09) The list of talent signing with the North Texas women’s basketball team continues to grow as forward Kendra Calvin has inked a National Letter of Intent with the Mean Green.

Calvin, a 6-2 forward and former Cal signee, hails from San Bernardino, Calif., played her high school basketball at Canyon Springs High School where she helped lead them to the 2005 CIF-Southern Section title and a trip to the state tournament final.

“Kendra is a strong, aggressive and talented low block player and physical play will fit perfectly into our current system,” said coach Shanice Stephens. “She will bring a much needed defensive presence to our lineup. Kendra has also played with and against some of the best players in the country and brings a basketball IQ that is essential to our success.”

Following her prep school days, Calvin helped lead Mount San Antonio College secure it’s third straight California State Community College Championship with a 37-1 overall record.

Calvin gives the Mean Green frontline a boost as she joins a pair of 6-4 forward’s in incoming freshman Brittany Thompson and junior Chynna Burwell who have already signed with North Texas.
