Awards Pile Up For Mean Green Basketball Recruits




DENTON (5/18/06) North Texas women’s basketball recruit Brittney James racked up the awards following her senior season at West Orange Stark High School. James, who averaged 26 points and nine rebounds a game, was named to the Class 3A TABC first-team all-state and all-region for the second straight year.

 

James was the District MVP for the second straight season. She was selected to play in the Texas/Louisiana All-Star games and was named the MVP with 24 points and 12 rebounds. James, a multi-sport athlete, was named the District Co-MVP in volleyball.  

 

Along with the accolades for James, recruit Mimi Goodman, from Batesville, Ark., has been ranked as the fifth best center in the state of Arkansas according to Southern Starzz magazine.

 

Goodman was named to the Class 4A all-state team as junior as she averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks a game. Goodman was also named to the all-region and all-conference team her junior season.

 

She shot 48 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line. As a sophomore she averaged 16 points and had six rebounds a game. In 2004, she was named to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette’s list of sophmore’s to watch.
