Mean Green Looking To Get Even Against ASU Tonight

JONESBORO, Ark. (2/25/09) The North Texas women’s basketball team starts its final road trip of the season tonight with a visit to the Arkansas State Red Wolves.  The Mean Green is still jockeying for position in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament but coming off another heartbreaking loss to UALR, a five-point defeat in overtime. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and the game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.

The Mean Green closes the year out with two-straight on the road. Arkansas State is playing some its best basketball of the season having won four straight games.

The Red Wolves won the first meeting against the Mean Green on January 10, 73-63 at the Super Pit.

Amber Jackson recorded her 14th double-double of the season against UALR, giving her the second most double-doubles in a single season. The school record was set by Clara Campbell during the 1985-86 season, but Jackson is the first player in over a decade to have more than 10 double-doubles in a season.

North Texas had a wild swing against UALR from the first half to the second half. The Mean Green shot a blistering 66.7 percent from the floor in the first half, the best half of shooting for North Texas in over a decade.

Not since November 27, 1998 has the Mean Green shot the ball better from the floor in half. That game North Texas had the same percentage, 66.7, on the same number of makes and attempts (14-21).
