DENTON, Texas (2/18/09) - North Texas student-athletes are participating in a campus-wide CANstruction during UNT’s Citizens Week and the Mean Green needs your help. Please bring canned goods to any athletic event over the next week to help the Mean Green compete in the CANstruction contest.
In short, CANstruction is where campus organizations will build elaborate structures out of canned goods, collected through a campus wide canned food drive. Each organization is responsible to collect the canned goods for their structure. The CANstruction competition will begin February 25-26 with judging to take place on the 27
th at 11 am. Athletic teams will compete against one another and other student organizations on campus for top design and many other categories. The North Texas Athletic Department will begin collecting cans at all remaining athletic events between now and the 25
th. Student-athletes will be collecting cans at the basketball games this week, starting at tonight's women's basketball game. Fans can also bring cans to the men's game on Thursday, Feb. 19 and the doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 21.
