Women Hosts No. 19 Middle Tennessee Tonight In The Super Pit




DENTON (1/24/07) - The North Texas women's basketball team is back in action tonight after snapping its five-game losing streak with an eight-point win over Florida Atlantic last Saturday. The Mean Green faces off with the hottest team in the Sun Belt in Middle Tennessee at 7 pm in the Super Pit.

The Blue Raiders are ranked No. 19 in the country and have won 14 straight games. North Texas is looking for only its second two-game winning streak of the season. It has been a roller coaster of a series between North Texas and Middle Tennessee. The Mean Green trail in the series as they have a mark of 4-5 against the Blue Raiders. North Texas won the first three meetings, then Middle Tennessee won five straight until last year’s win by the Mean Green. Last season’s win by North Texas, a 69-64 win, was a dramatic come-from-behind victory. At the Super Pit, North Texas is 3-2 against Middle Tennessee.

After scoring 15 points on five separate occasions in the last two seasons, Amber Jackson scored a career-high 17 points against FAU. Jackson in the past two games has poured in 16 points and shot the ball 50 percent from the floor. Jackson has matched the number of double figure scoring games she had last season with eight this year. Along with her scoring, Jackson also has a knack for dishing the ball out. In the last four games she has 14 assists, good for 3.5 a game. She is second on the team in assists with 36

North Texas won its first game of the 2007 calendar year against FAU and ended its longest losing streak since the 2003-04 season. The five-game losing streak that North Texas broke was only the third five-game losing streak in the past ten seasons. All three of those streaks came to an end at the Super Pit.
