DENTON, Texas - Former North Texas women's basketball coach Judy Nelson stopped by the end of the Mean Green's shoot around and spoke with the team. Nelson was the head coach at North Texas from 1983-89 and led North Texas to the NCAA Tournament in 1986, the school's only berth in the NCAA Tournament. She remains second all-time in career coaching victories (66) at North Texas.
The 1985-86 squad won 20 games, which remains tied for the second most in school history in a single season. Nelson led North Texas to the biggest turnaround in school history as the team went from four wins in 1984-85 to 20 the following season.
